Founders

Harpal (Paul) Singh Khanuja, MD

Dr Khanuja is an Assistant Professor with Johns Hopkins Orthopaedics at Good Samaritan Hospital.  He is fellowship trained in hip and knee reconstructive surgery.

Paul first met Dr. Larry Dorr while he was doing The Knee Society’s John N. Insall Travelling Fellowship in 2006 As a result, he and Maria went on their first Operation Walk trip to El Salvador.   After this experience they decided to establish the Maryland Chapter of Operation Walk

Maria Khanuja, RN, BS

Maria is an orthopaedic nurse and coordinator of Operation Walk Maryland.  After her first  Operation Walk trip,  she knew she wanted to devote her time to this cause.  This was inspired by the appreciation expressed by the patients and the knowledge that they had given an opportunity to people who otherwise would never have one.
